Design & Build with FSC Application 2010

Call for Submissions for 6th Annual Awards (2010)

The Forest Stewardship Council–US (FSC-US) invites your candidate projects for the 6th Annual Design & Build with FSC Awards — recognizing excellence in the use of FSC materials in both residential and commercial/institutional design and construction.

This is the only award the FSC-US gives each year. It recognizes and honors designers and builders who are committed to using FSC-certified wood and creating a marketplace that promotes environmentally appropriate, socially beneficial and economically viable forest management — the mission of FSC.

Eligibility and Selection Criteria
The Design & Build with FSC Awards 2010 are open to homeowners, architects, interior designers, general contractors, builders, consultants and other professionals committed to using FSC-certified wood.

    Eligible projects:
  • Commercial, institutional, mixed-use, or residential
  • At least 50% of new wood used (by cost) is FSC-certified
  • Must be located in the United States or Canada
  • Must have been completed during or after 2008
    The selection criteria include:
  • The amount of FSC-certified wood used in the project
  • The appropriateness of wood use, creative expression and innovation
  • Efforts to advance FSC market transformation (e.g., new FSC certificates issued, project replicability and affordability, relationships formed along the supply chain)

Awards Process and Judging
Project teams must complete and submit the application form to FSC-US on or before Friday, September 17, 2010. The winning projects will be chosen by an independent committee of recognized professionals.

Winners will be announced at The Design & Build with FSC Awards Reception, which will take place during the U.S. Green Building Council’s Greenbuild 2010, in Chicago, on Wednesday, November 17.

Applications are due on or before Friday, September 17, 2010.
